Stories

Stories presented here are deeply connected to people I've met on my way, places I have been and to peoples everyday life. I always aim for digging deeper, beneath the surface, and learn from the past.

FOOD & HARMONY

What is Slow Food?

The Slow Food movement started in Italy in the 1980s as a protest against the fast food industry, and to support local traditions, good quality food, gastronomic pleasure and a slow pace of life.

FOOD & HARMONY

Bread - a symbol of life

Breaking bread with someone, sharing bread around a table with others, is a symbol of friendship, communication and building relationships. Bread has been an important food source to many cultures over the centuries.

FOOD & HARMONY

Buttiamo niente

«In the kitchen we don’t throw anything» says Italian chef Bruno Barbieri. Powerful words. Words that keep coming into my mind, almost every day, when I am in the kitchen.

SECRETS FROM THE KITCHEN

RECIPE

Carciofi alle Romana (Roman artichokes)

Carciofi alla Romana is a signature dish in Rome. They are cooked gently in white wine, with salt, garlic, lemon, parsley and mint. Deliciously marinated in these flavors, they are even better the day after.

RECIPE

Basic sourdough bread

Are you curious about baking sourdough bread and want to begin this fantastic travel and make your own stories? This is a good start.

RECIPE

Zuppa di latte (milk soup)

La zuppa di Latte is as far away from fancy smoothie bowls, chia puddings or fresh pastries from the baker you can come. It is an ancient dish, a typical example of cibo povero.

RECIPE

La Pastiera Napoletana

For the past three years, it has become a must in our home for Easter: the legendary Neapolitan pastry filled with ricotta and wheat grains, with the aroma and taste of orange and lemon. Ingredients that take me back to the Mediterranean.

RECIPE

Cappellacci di Francesca

The word cappellacci means hats, and Cappellacci di Zucca is pumpkin-stuffed pasta typically from the Emilia-Romagna region, north of Italy. We made the dough with nettle that we found in the garden.

RECIPE

Norwegian ricotta

Summer memories and passion for traditions and local food productions started this explorations with fresh cow milk and Italian food culture.

PLACES IN MY HEART

MATERA, ITALY

Ancient Sassi di Matera

Sassi Di Matera has an unforgettable history. Until the mid-1950s, the inhabitants lived in caves without running water, electricity and sewage. It was a place full of poverty, malaria and a high rate of infant mortality. The city was called the shame from Italy.

SICILY, ITALY

At a slow pace in Marettimo

On the island of Marettimo, everything is moving at a slow pace. Here you have the opportunity to just enjoy being. Coming here feels like going back in time. To a time where Internet and globalization don’t exist.

PONZA, ITALY

Le stanze della Poesia

Next to the cliffs, overlooking the sea and all by itself, we find the small wine yard, Il Fieno. The place of a poet, who is also a fisherman and traveler, welcomes us with colours, poetry on the walls and traces from travels around the world.
