TRAVELS & WORKSHOPS

Wine and Yoga 2019

25th–29th September 2019 we arranged our second wine- and yogaretreat to Portugal. We had four adventurous and relaxing days in the beautiful wine region Douro Valley and the city Porto, with wine harvest, yoga, relaxation, local traditions and portugese architecture.

These four days we took part in the harvest at one of Portugal's wine producers, Quinta das Peixotas, in the world-renowned wine district Douro Valley. To join the wine making in the traditional way and get close connected to the locals and the Portuguese culture, is a unique experience.

Portugal is a country with a strong wine tradition, and the quality of the wines is recognized worldwide. Together with my lovely friends Joana, from Quinta das Peixotas vineyard, we took part in the annual harvest and production of one of the best wines in Portugal.

These days we got to step the grapes the traditional way, we learned about the process of a wine production, picked a lot of grapes and tasted the wines.

We enjoyed local Portuguese food and delicious breakfast by the pool side, went hiking in the beautiful hills and not least we found peace with yoga (yoga for all levels) at sunset with a terrific view over the world-famous wine terraces and the Douro river.

During the trip we also spent two days in beautiful Porto, where we among other things, got to visit one of the big port wine houses, tasted port wine and went to a beautiful concert with Portugese fado music in a wine cellar.

On our way to work in the wine terracces. Here we learn about how the wine harvest works for a small, sustainable wine producer. Quinta das Peixotas in Douro Valley, Portugal.

In the old times stepping the grapes for hours and hours, was the only way to get the extract juice from the grapes and to start the fermentation. Gradually it was developed machines to do the job. Still today, the absolutely best quality wine comes from this old technique. But it’s very rare to find producers like Quintas das Peixotas that still has this as a part of the production.

«Ah, dette var høstens høydepunkt og vel så det! Deilig, avslappende tur til vakre Portugal med fine folk, fantastisk mat og vin på omhyggelig utvalgte restauranter, omvisning på vingård med innlagt druehøsting og vintråkking. Gøy! Og krydret med behagelig yoga i nydelige omgivelser og i tillegg bra med egentid, ble dette en perfekt regissert pakketur fri for stress. Når kommer reprisen?»
